Minori is the most ancient inhabited centre of the coast. Yet in the 1st century AD it was residence of roman aristocrats, and the Villa Romana, rich of mosaics, stuccos and frescos, witness the grandness of these people and the consideration that they had of this place.

Minori was an important arsenal of the Republic of Amalfi, and followed the same fate of the Republic also when it declined.

In the following century Minori started to become independent and to have its own economy.

 
 

The cultivation of lemons already introduced during the 10th century, the production of hand made pasta, considered the best in the hole reign, were the most profitable activities. The lemon trade is still today a very profitable activity, the variety of lemons called ‘Sfusato Amalfitano’ is partially exported and partially used to make the famous liquor ‘Limoncello’ of the Amalfi Coast.
The industry of hand made pasta was most flourishing till the past few decades, is now a tradition kept by the housewives. The famous ‘ricci’ from Minori, the ‘scialatielli’ and the ‘ndunderi’ are cooked according to ancient recipes, mainly during the local festivals and important occasions, and are traditions of a past that signs the history of a community.
